Micro-computed tomography is a valuable tool for studying ancient ceramics technology. Analysing pottery 3-D images challenging issue, the data being extremely noisy and heterogeneous. Quantitative criteria are introduced characterisation of previously unrecognised building method, Spiralled Patchwork Technology (SPT).
